What to do with old helmets? - April 19, 2007, 02:45 PM

Ok, guys... I think I have 3 old helmets laying around. One was my first one, it's a Vega, the reason it's no longer in use is self explanitary. The second one met the groundhog and is scratched, and the third one was replaced by my new one in a spur of the moment shopping adventure at VIR.

What is there to do with old helmets other than simply throw them out with the trash?

The most functional idea I've come up with so far was a bird house... yeah. That didn't happen. If it did, I might spark Jeff Foxworthy to make another redneck joke.

Other than that... a lamp, when in conjunction with skis or something...

a table....

Find pics, make pics, get ideas, let's see what we can come up with?!
(I'm bored and have a half hour to go).

Tanya,

Take them to the local rescue squad or fire department.
They use them on training days to practice CUTTING a helmet off of downed bikers.
Helps them help us.

Really?!!
Awesome... thank you!
I think my helmets are too small for most people, though.

Tanya the e-mail I received about the Coleman's Block Party said you could bring in old helmets and get 20% off the price of a new lid. If you don't sell or donate them all you could ask if anyone on the forum needs a new lid and could use your old one for the discount.

Just a thought
