What To Do With Old Helmets - October 17, 2008, 08:20 AM

On another forum recently, I raised the question of what I should do with my collection of older lids that're taking up closet space at home.

The best answer I got was that local Fire Departments can use them for training First Responders on how to handle downed riders without causing or aggravating head/neck injuries.

If you've got any old, unusable helmets sitting around at home, please consider donating them to your local VFD.

Very cool! I was just thinking about what I could do with my 10+ y.o. Shoei besides set it on a shelf.

Thanks.

it would be even sweeter if you went on a back road and dropped them at various speeds, heights and angles and wrote an awesome review!!!..

stick a pair of boots in them to equal the weight of a head being in them....it's only about 8 lbs.

even sweeter if you had a complete dummy you could use....tie him to your back with a belt...get up to speed and undo the belt...awesome.

if you made it real enough looking...it would be the #1 viewed vid on youtube..choke slamming someone off ur bike....SWEET

VFD seems like the best bet, I've got a wrecked Shoei RF-1000 that i've been meaning to take away.
