Why the hell do all helmets have such craptrastic visors? - April 22, 2011, 02:10 PM

I got soaked in the cold rain today. Yes, it sucked, but what sucks even more is looking through my helmet visor. Because of fogging and poor optics, you feel like you are riding through a monsoon, but then you flip open the visor to see that it's only raining a little bit and visibility is great (for everybody else.)

FU helmet visors.

I guess it all matters what type of helmet. I have a HJC that sounds exactly like yours. Sucks like shit Would be better if i had saran wrap on my face.

I also have a AGV GP Tech Rossi replica that is awesome in the rain. No fog or anything and the optics are great. $200 vs $600 (msrp$800)

Cat Crap for the inside, Aquapel for the outside.

Cat crap is awesome, cheap anti-fog...Aquapel is what Rainx always wanted to be but never will

I found fogging and optics to be as much of a problem on my expensive Shoei and OGK helmets as on my cheapie HJC, AGV and Gmax helmets.

I just learned about the Pinlock thing and I heard it works awesome. But... they don't provide it for my current helmet brand, Gmax.

Tell me what awesome expensive helmet you have, cause my 400 shoei and 400 ogk both have craptastic visors.

They suck in the rain for the same reason glasses suck. No button on the dash to fire up the defogger and no wiperblade.

I'm with you there! I've had $600 helmets suck and $200 ones be fine. I dunno. I posted this somewhere else:

It works in my SCUBA mask and visors just the same.

Shark Helmets.
Visors or F1 spec thickness and treated.

When I checked out some shark helmets, I cracked the visor on them just a litle and the visor mount seemed really flimsy in that way... that was 2 or 3 years ago. Are they beter now?
