I never understood why 18-wheelers, RVs, buses, and anyone towing a trailer are not banned from that section of road. It is impossible for them to maintain their lane throughout.
It is on the NC side, but not on the TN side. TN for whatever reason is hesitant in banning them all together. New signs have been erected, hopefully that will be a deterence, but doubt it. EIther way, if a truck goes through it, they just got fined, and is still prolly cheaper for them to take the dragon rather tahn going around and taking the highway. Alot of trckers i feel like just dont realize how bad it is, bc they look at their GPS which tells them to go through their, and by the time they get there, its too late to turn around and they realize the mistake they made.
at the very MINIMUM they should have escorts, but most times they dont. Thats when we try and escort them through. but once a truck enters the dragon, might as well go somewhere else, cuz it takes well over an hour for the truck to get through...

In which case they need to build a turn around zone on each end for trucks and large vehicles.
“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.
Wonder what happens when u have two rigs going in the opposite direction.
goood question, not sure if thats happened before or not, but theyd be screwed BIG time lol

there are, with warning signs saying this is the last turn around pooint. The issue i think is that you have to drive down the road about 30-40 mins before thee actual twisties(although there are signs along the way saying turn around), and people get that far and dont want to..

This issue lies 100% on the state DOT. There are many roads throughout the country that ban semi's altogether. If you get caught in them you will be guaranteed a very hefty fine. It's similar to the limitations on bridges. If you have a truck specific GPS it would not route you through there. And if you didn't make use of a GPS then there should be HUGE signs saying that commercial trucks beyond a certain size are not allowed without special permits and escorts. Somebody will have to eventually sue the DOT and make a huge media spectacle of a situation before they finally do something about it. Enforcement on that road is a life or death situation for either cars or bikers.
