Last night around 7:30p on Powder Mill Rd in Calverton, this gentleman who had an enthusiastic evening of off-roading on his motard pulled up next to me at the red light.

Well done, sir.

I've thought about having some dirt gear at work for when I ride the wr250x in. I'm just up from there at FDA...

Looks like he is picking it up for someone, no rash or battle damage anywhere on him.

It's clear I should wait until I can see the images before commenting. Still, I have thought of taking my supermoto to the trails near there.

I was rear ended on my cbr on the way to work this morning. There was someone at the crosswalk so I stopped but the car behind me didn't. He hit my back tire, which pulled the tire under the car and held the bike up (the bike was standing upright). I got knocked up into the air and hit the car's hood with my butt and the windshield with my shoulders/back and head. Only thing not armored was my butt and it is pretty sore. My wife made me go to the hospital where they admired my butt and took an xray of my neck. I seem to be ok although I'm pretty sore and likely to be more sore tomorrow.

I was hoping to put 100k miles on this bike (closing in on 70k). After it got dragged all over the road on its right side it may not be worth doing. I think more damage was done to the bike getting it detached from the car and on the tow truck than in the accident.

^^^Wow. That truly sucks. Sorry to read this.

On the plus side you're relatively unhurt and unscathed after being hit with a 4000lb object and ragdolled into the air.

Not many people get to walk away from that scenario without much more than a sore but.

Secondary benefit - new bike for you courtesy of the inattentive driver and a little cash in your pocket courtesy of pain and suffering.

Any pictures of the bike?

Bike is probably fixable if you really want to keep it (i.e. emotional value).

Get to a specialist and get everything on record from contusions, nerve damage, or any other lingering infirmities from this accident.

You cannot underestimate the long term impacts of this type of impact and you need to get it on the record now and documented. I would also call your friends and family as ask around for a referral to a good attorney.

You're not the first to suggest talking to a lawyer so I've started that process. Thanks!

Bike's fixable if you want, but that was not a love tap right there.

Get checked out.

Make no mistake, I would recover from stuff back in the day in my 20's and 30's that I feel now in the later years that were injuries that I thought healed. Backs and spine stuff are the most problematic of the bunch.
