09/21/2007 SV-650s wreck... - September 23, 2007, 10:47 AM

Well...I went out on a Friday afternoon ride with a few other members of the board and went around a blind left hand turn, something was in the road (going back today to get pictures) and swerved to the right to avoid, instead of left, which would have possibly put me at risk of hitting a car head on, i swerved slight right and avoided the object, and I could not lean the bike fast enough, nor quick enough to get it to make the turn, and then sure enough front and rear tire caught the side of the road (gravel/grass) and sent me down a ditch with some rocks, trees, I rode the bike down as far as I could, and once the bike hit the rocks below ejected me off and through a barbed wire fence (which was already ruined), and the bike flipped again and landed on the rear subframe. My helmet (RF-1000) was also ruined, cracked it, jacket (Cortech GX-Air) did its job, helped keep my shoulders intact (except the right one slightly), jeans held up with some tears, gloves (teknic) are little skuffed, and the all leather boots have a few cuts.
Good news though is that i walked away from it, it could have been A LOT worse, i have a fractured shoulder, sprained ankle, concusion, banged up knees, and some road rash... so now... rebuild time...tell me what you think...I'm thinking either an exact rebuild, or a really nice streetfighter look, just because once rebuilt, i think i'll stick to commuting to school for a while before I go back out on group rides....let me know what you think

Thanks to all the guys out there that stayed and helped me out, without them my bike would still be there, and I could have been off a lot worse, thanks: Widow Maker; RRonin; and JohnnySpeed954 (they helped me pull the bike out of the ditch) also thanks to Dutch; dv/dt; and Karrotx for the help/support

Just like I told you bro. Strip it down and part it out. Use the money to get something else and start over!!

As you can already see there are plenty of people who would like to purchase parts!

Good luck bro!

God Speed Jeff! You'll never be forgotten.

BOOSTZX3 : in all seriousness head injuries ain't no joke. I've had around 10 concussions and now I ride a Buell Don't let it happen to you!

I hate Shadows. That was a good looking SV. I like the red.

I hope you can bring something away from this that will improve you as a rider. No matter what you think you may see you gotta keep looking through the corner and keep the bike leaning.

Good luck.
