Crash and burn - Literally - July 1, 2011, 07:21 AM

Rescuers recall fiery motorcycle crash | Video | 6abc.com

Car makes a u-turn, rider coming up behind him lays it down and then BOOM. Shit normally does not do that except in movies.

LOLNOPE!

Motorcycle Accident Leaves Man in Flames

Looks like a Suzuki of some nature. At least the frame stayed together this time.

This vid would make a good PSA against the folks who talk about "having to lay it down".

The car didn't seem to drive off. The news would've made a huge deal if that was the case. But that's why bikers need to be extra HYPER AWARE of their surroundings. The u-turn was not super sudden as he had his wheels turned for a long time and even inched forward. And the biker should not have panicked. Rubber has much better traction than plastics and metals. He either laid it down or jammed on the brakes too hard. If he would've stayed upright he would've been able to slow down by at least 15-20 mph in that distance.

Car was still in the wrong, but we need to be more aware on the streets. During traffic the other day on 495 through the construction area I didn't have any close calls but whenever we got surrounded by cars (riding 2-up) I had my girl grab on tight just for the possibility that a car would do something stupid and I would have to maneuver around it. It was a stressful ride.

He seemed to be going a bit fast for that road but the driver of that car should be whipped.

+1. The bike came in pretty hot, no pun intended.

yea, the rider, while mostly innocent, was going way too fast. His speed contributed to his crash.

Off the bat it looks fast but when you compare his speed to that of the car that passed the camera going the opposite way before the guy made the u-turn it appears that road is not a slow speed road altogether. Plus the sliding on its side didn't help in the speed department.

Car driver was a women; go figure.
Gixxer rider was a squid; go figure.

He was in jeans, low top sneakers, and some type of "batting/mechanix" type gloves.

His gloves seem ok for street use

The guys in Philly don't wear any gear or helmets. I bet neither one of them had insurance either. At least he had on some Icon gloves. Lol
