Damn Gravel almost bit it tonight - July 31, 2008, 09:11 PM

So i was coming back to my place from 50 out in Aldie i live right by Stone ridge and my stupid entrance is covered in gravel and i swept it up but the damn cagers keep knocking it back all over the road i was going about 30 and i went to turn in and all of a sudden im sideways and half off the bike i managed not to jerk the throttle as i held on and it came back to me somehow and saved itself, im lucky because i know it wasnt me that saved it and it happened so fast i thought i was down for sure. just a friendly reminder if your in Aldie and going back on Spring Meadow watch out for gravel!!!

Good job saving it.
I was in PA for Gettysburg bike week. Went to turn into a parking lot and the front end almost went out on me. Was that damn tar they put down.
Turns out everyone i was meeting up with did the same.
Later coming out of a gas station I was sitting at a light and a guy making a right did the same thing. He was looking back wondering what happened.
It was strang watching someone else as it happens so quick!

gravel surfing, I like that, gonna start using it.

In fact you did save that, by not tensing up, hitting the brakes or throttle you allowed the bike to self-correct. Good job.

Call VDOT... they'll send out a cleanup crew. I keep doing that for the Algonkian Pkwy/McPherson Circle intersection... all the BDICs cut the corner and throw the gravel up on the road... I'm about due to make my (now) regular call to them about it.

Anyone wanna help me build a small brick and mortar wall/curb there?

I almost bit it on a tar snake in the WalMart parking lot this week. Was just putting along in a slow turn and then all of a sudden the back tire slides a few inches.Scared the crap out of me.I stopped to check my back tire because I thought it was flat.So I went back around to see if I ran over something and I noticed the tar smeared with my tire print in it.

Thank god theres no sharp turns on the FFX county parkway around Sprinfield, because theres a long stretch of tar snakes covering the road.

ALL MY HEROES ARE RUSSIAN...GO CAPS!

Well you see, Norm, itís like thisÖA herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.-Cliff Claven
