BMW driver's name is Mark A. Sgarlata. I did a quick search and found a hot-shot lawyer in McLean with the same name. I wonder if it's the same guy.

More Details are coming in:

"According to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, Mark Sgarlata, 52, of Ashburn, was driving eastbound on Ashburn Farm Parkway at 12:49 a.m. when he made at left turn into the Junction Plaza shopping center. Sgarlata's BMW hit a motorcycle carrying two people. The motorcycle had been driving westbound on Ashburn Farm Parkway.
Both the motorcycle's driver and passenger were killed in the crash. Sgarlata has been booked into the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on DUI charges, but the investigation in ongoing and additional charges are possible."

Drivers turn in front of motorcycles even under ideal conditions. Nighttime, after drinking, increases the chance of an accident. I'm sure the motorist did not wish to hurt anybody. I especially feel for the families of the two who died in the accident.

You can only hope that they aren't parents and now their kids aren't orphans.

RIP to the riders. They need to really start making example of people like this instead of some athlete taking facking growth. We all know how this will play out though. He'll do 60 days in jail, pay a hefty fine, and go about it his life...

A Mark A. Sgarlata of 43573 Pablo Creek Ct (million dollar property), Ashburn was also charged with DWI (1st) on 3/23/2011 in Loudoun. Amended to reckless driving, as it always the case in Loudoun.

Pleaded guilty to that for a $1500 fine and restricted license for six months.

Just great. Evidently there is an alcoholic repeat DUI offender 4000 feet from my house.

Do we know anything about the riders?
