F4i totaled by deer - January 23, 2006, 12:42 PM

Sunday afternoon my brother was riding on Furnace Road in Lorton when a nice local deer decided to commit suicide. FCPD estimated his speed at 40 mph. Lucky because I know we have riden that road much faster. He was ATGATT. No road rash or broken bones. Although his helmet (Arai ) did not show signs of a hard impact he was unconcious on the scene. CT scan showed a small amount blood around the brain. Docs say he should be ok and home in a day or two.

When told the F4i was a total loss he said he was going to get a GSXR 750. He also siad he is now going to take up hunting.

Yikes, and thoughts for a quick and complete recovery. I was out on Stumptown road this weekend and came across three standing by the side of the road. I slowed down to 20 and honked--no reaction at all, just a bunch of "that all you got?" looks. They finally ran off when I got to ~30 yards away.

Note to self--go slow on Stumpton, and baby needs a more butch-sounding horn.

He's home now. Still has a head ache. Does not remember getting on the bike. His gear did its job.

Damn! Glad he is ok! I find that it makes me feel good to flip off every deer crossing sign I see. Tell him to try it!
