Fatal in Ashburn 8/1 - August 2, 2011, 04:09 PM

Loudoun Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Ashburn Road at Faulkner Parkway for a report of a crash involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival deputies discovered that a 49-year-old Stephens City, man was operating a 2007 Ford F150 westbound on Faulkner Parkway, attempting to cross the intersection at Ashburn Road. A 55-year-old Leesburg man was operating a 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle and was traveling north on Ashburn Road. The motorcycle struck the side of the Ford F150. The intersection is controlled by stop signs for traffic crossing Ashburn Road. The Leesburg man was transported to the Lansdowne Campus of INOVA Loudoun Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He was wearing a novelty-type motorcycle helmet, not approved for highway operation. The incident remains under investigation.

At least he died fighting for his right to wear a substandard helmet

Lots of laughs. The point is, yet another rider on a bike was killed by a person making a left-hand turn right into his path.

Another reminder to never let your guard down...

This. He may have survived if safety was more important to him than a sweet German army helmet

On some Harley forum reports of a sport biker dies from a left turning vehicle and they all make jokes about how all his gear did him no good because he was probably breaking every speed law, weaving in and out of traffic, doing stunts and deserved it!
