Motorcyclist Killed In Middleburg
Dan Telvock <mailto:dan@leesburg2day.com>

Sep 09, 2005 -- Virginia State Police said a Middleburg man died last night when he crashed his motorcycle into a pickup truck.
VSP 1st Sgt. V.C. Jones said relatives has not been contacted so he could not release the 40-year-old manís name. Jones said a 1989 Ford F150 pickup truck was making a left turn off from Polecat Hill Road onto Foxcroft Road in Middleburg, when the motorcyclist operating a 2002 Ducati struck the truck.
Jones said the pick-up truck had stopped at the stop sign before proceeding and that the motorcyclist was coming down from a hill that had a blind spot. Jones said he wasnít sure from which direction the motorcyclist was driving. He said the man applied his brakes, but lost control of his bike and struck the truck.
The wreck happened at about 6:45 p.m. Jones said the Middleburg man died at Inova Emergency Room in Leesburg about three hours later.

What, is he an idiot? How hard can it be to figure out? There are only two possible directions. Which side of the truck is smashed in?

BS. With Medstar-4 hovering overhead, the EMTs quit CPR and declared him dead on the scene. They did not bothering flying him out. I have an audio recording confirming this.

bleh... goes to show you that even if you wait to go out west to go balling on the roads out there it just takes one person pulling out of their driveway or a stalled car around a blind curve that can end a life...

be careful and ride your ride....

RIP..

Pretty soon I'll just go out to the garage and sit on it. Or buy and extra wide treadmill to put it on.

2 people have died on my regular roads in the past couple of months. Fox Croft and Deleplane Grade. Both are narrow, unmarked roads. I've had a couple of close calls myself.

RIP

Leathers save your skin, they have very little to do with survival. Head injuries are what kill, even a helmet isn't always enough.

Massive trauma to the torso would be the next greatest cause of death.

Another news report with more details. The details between the stories leave a lot of questions. The 1st report says "the motorcyclist was coming down from a hill that had a blind spot" (that would be coming from the south). That would mean, based on the fact of the new story "had completed a left hand turn when it was stuck by the motorcycle", the bike would've hit the the truck head on. So why then didn't Trooper Jones know which way the bike was coming from? It would seem pretty straight forward to me, unless the driver of the truck intentionally moved it after the crash to distort the facts of the crash. How do the police know the truck actually stopped at the sign? The driver said so? Of course he did. I know for a fact that the responding trooper was way out in Round Hill when his assistance was requested, so he didn't see a damn thing.

I'd really like to get a copy of the accident report and photos so I can investigate it myself. But I can't get the report on my own because of BS state laws. If you knew Thomas or know any of his family please let me know. They would be able to get the report.

Taylorwas traveling on Foxcroft School Road when his motorcycle, a 2002 Ducati 7501E, struck a 1989 Ford F-150 pickup truck. According to the Virginia State Police report, the truck had stopped for a stop sign at Polecat Road and Foxcroft school Road, proceeded on to Foxcroft School Road and had completed a left hand turn when it was stuck by the motorcycle.
