Question Local Vinyl shops? - September 18, 2009, 10:09 AM

Has anyone used vinyl instead of paint on their plastics? Are there any good shops that make custom vinyl in the area? It could be cheaper than paint and you could do some pretty crazy things with it. I've seen some sick themes on cars.

wow - cool. It's $99/roll. I believe it takes 3 rolls to completely wrap a bike.

Cutter, was recommended to a local guy who's done some TPG decal work, located in Nova. In the process of ordering from him now but people say his stuff is good. Pm me if you're interested.

Yo Bobby, if it's possible and you don't mind can you add a couple extra decals onto your order?

buddy and i did mine:

he works at race apeel http://www.raceapeel.com/ in wheaton. they've done cars too. they can also print custom vinyl. the wrap material i used was from trackwraps and was a lot more forgiving to work with then regular vinyl.

You bought your vinyl from trackwraps and then had raceapeel install it?

would like to see some of his work. I am debating getting track wraps rather than replacing some fairings.

I am ready to meet my maker but is my maker ready for the ordeal of meeting me...

no i bought from trackwraps and a buddy and i did them. we did most of the larger parts at the shop. there's definitely a learning curve with this stuff. he works there and he can do it. so if you go there, i'm sure he will be able to install for you. keep in mind it takes a decent amount of time to do this stuff. a lot of vinyl places won't do the bike wraps. it's definitely one of the more complicated applications, even for the professionals.

I was thinking about it. The vents on the sides of the fairings could be a pain. Also, not having any seems showing could be tough.
