Well daaaaag on it.... Went up to DE today to see the fam.... Ridin' out to the house on Rte 202/Concord Pike and get in the right side turning lane to turn onto Silverside Rd... It's drizzlin' and the ground is damp. The traffic light at the intersection was red. The cars in the two left lanes were stopped, but my turning lane on the right was plenty clear. So I'm decelerating to come to make the turn.... I see a car coming through the stopped cars perpendicular to my lane... This fool don't see me, I KNOW!!! Yep, he's comin' on into my lane.... Time to emergency brake... skiiiiiiid..... lowside on the right side. Tumble tumble stop. ....sigh.... . I'm fine. I managed to scrub off plenty of speed before going down (lost traction due to the wet ground) so I didn't really go far... Prob'ly went down at about 5-10mph... I was comin' in at about 30 though when I hit the brakes.

Scorpion EX400 Helmet took some slight impacts/slides but I barely noticed, Fieldsheer Titanium mesh protected me well (though where it impacted the ground (right shoulder blade in the back) was all frayed of course - so much for abraision resistance[^o)] - but I never really expected much else). Vortex Frame slider did it's thing well although it's bent upwards from the base. Got a TAD more character on the lower fairing, and my exhaust was rashed some more and bent in towards the bike....(Okay Arya, I just might be getting that new Termi soon! ). I lifted her right on up (who said this was a hard thing to do? ) and started her right on up and rode her on up to my folks' house.

The 19 year old kid driving stopped and made sure I was straight... exchanged info... got the police report... Bad thing is, there was no citation issued. Dude admitted his fault in the matter, and it was noted in the police report, but the cop says since there was no IMPACT between the vehicles it's gonna be touchy when it comes to insurance makin' a payout to me.... That really sucks... Basically they are saying I should've T-boned the dude so I could get his insurance company to cover me... I'm prayin'. We'll see. Regardless, dude "assures" me he'll take care of me if insurance doesn't (We'll see )

Why am I typin' all my buisness up? Ahh! Because I want someone to learn from MY mistakes! The cop said I was the smartest biker HE'd met so far because regardless of how HOT it was I was still rockin' my GEAR. He said most of them that he sees are just wearing T-shirt, shorts, and sneakers - and a helmet... Look at my jacket, look at my helmet... (when I post up pics that is) and you'll see yet another shining example of what gear can save your skin and bones. I Praise God for protecting me as He always does, and much thanks to Fieldsheer, Scorpion, Vortex, and A-stars for their design! So here is my contribution! Learn!

Oh, and I didn't go to the EM room... Not sure on that one... The crash really wasn't that bad... More frustrating than anything else... No bumps or bruises... May need to get my wrist checked out (had a watch on under my gloves like a dummy...always told myself not to do that...), but that's it... Just sucks. But I'd still recommend getting checked out if you wreck.... Just keep thinkin' about Dan... It's been like 5 hours... I don't know... I guess I will.

Be easy!

Call his insurance ANYWAY!! It still his fault. Even with no citation issued, he was still labeled as his fault.

Yeah, I just kinda wish they did issue the kid a citation so that I would have something more official to kind of document his "fault" in this thing a little better... Right now, I just have dude's "integrity" for admitting fault and what not... Yeah, that may be mentioned in the report as well, but the cop told me it may not be enough for his insurance company to accept any liability... Sucks really... It's like I would be better off hittin' the dude and causin' more damage and what not just to insure that I get taken care of... You know what I'm sayin'....

The insurance game...

Anyway, I'll live, and thanks everyone for your well wishes!

Yeah, no doubt! She wouldn't have been out with me in any type of gray weather anyway... But yeah accidents can happen anywhere...

I put the claim in with his insurance company, and now I'm just waiting to hear something from them by the COB Monday... I just want my bike put back to the way it was, you know?
