Monday Morning sucks!!! - October 2, 2006, 06:34 AM

Well how do you start off the week well you wreck 50 yards from your house!!! Rode the duke in and on the 2nd corner from my house I caught a downshift and locked up the rear wheel cause of the singles backpressure and wham I lowsided!! I was going hmmm why am I sliding behind my bike? OH well shit happens!! Broke my brake lever right at the cylinder and a little bodywork damage. Bruised my hip and lower leg but dam am I glad I wear sidi boots cause I put my peg into the boot and all I have is a bruise there too. I will be putting a slipper clutch in when I get back from the honeymoon!!! Glad I was only doing 25mph!!! If you ride and don't wear the right gear just don't do it !!! You never know were you are gonna go down!! Now back to our regular programming!!!

That's awful! Glad your boots did their job. In the MSF class over a year ago, I dropped the 200lb bike, peg landed on my big toe. Sidi boots saved most of my foot, but the toenail came off. My first and only bike injury that required a doc's help! So far...

Ohh yea it backed in allright but with a fridged tire there was no warning!!
I was about 50 yards from my house so not enough time to warm up the tires! I shouldn't have tried to down shift so quick with a cold bike I think.

Yeah...that sucks...I guess it's one thing if you're expecting to back it in VS it happening when you least expect it.

I know my tire pressures changed quite a bit, I checked them Saturday and my front was 21psi and rear 24psi! Normally, I run 32 psi front and 34 psi rear...but I wonder if maybe there was something on the road? I rode in this morning and hit a few turns pretty fast and they tires stuck like glue...and they were just up the road from my house.

Either way...good to hear you're ok.

I had a weird thing happen yesterday, I was coming into my neighborhood and there's a 90 degree turn in towards my house so I figured I'd mess around and drag knee through it since I wouldn't have to go to fast to lean the bike way over...well...I turned, knee went on the ground and all of the sudden the rear started to "skip" but it came back just fine...I don't get it because earlier I was messing around MUCH faster and the bike wasn't moving around at all...I'm guessing I must have gotten on the throttle or scraped a peg and maybe offloaded the rear wasn't a big deal although it did take me by surprise. I just got on the throttle and it came back nicely. Fun but I'm still trying to figure it out...because I'd like to do that more
