Pants before dishonor: A bike save story - August 25, 2010, 02:44 PM

Was sitting at a stop light on Old Georgetown and Battery Ln. (I know, stopped at a stop light in Montgomery County, who would think it?) Light turned green, I clicked into first, put my left foot down, and felt my pant leg catch on something. I could just barely get my toe on the ground as the bike started leaning to the left and cars started moving. Teetering, teetering, bike tipping slowly to the port, I concluded she was gonna go down unless I did something drastic. So I leaned right and in one quick motion raised my left foot real quick and stomped it back down in an effort to release the pants. Nothing doing. Fortunately the pants just gave up and tore. Embarrassed, I rode away.

Photo of pants and offending bike part:

In my head this happens like a bad anime flick. Lots of undecipherable screaming and random flashes followed by victory.

Good...it's about time you chucked those ratty pants.

I've established and can now begin accepting contributions to the "OSD New Pants Fund". Your contributions are tax deductible and will ensure that OSD will get a new pair of pants and cease being a source of embarrassment to those who ride with him. If we get enough we can also spring for some rubber bands to put around the bottoms of the new pants so he doesn't tear them.
