Reston Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Virginia Center Boulevard - Fairfax News

Anyone know how this could have happened? I live right around the corner, and the street is a 35MPH limit near the metro station.

Picture of the road going North. The right turn you see ahead is Baronhurst Drive.

35 mph is more than fast enough to be fatal, especially when trees and guardrails are involved.

"For an unknown reason, it appears that the motorcycle veered to the right side of the roadway,"

Sounds like he had a mechanical problem.. Maybe a tire blew out..

BTW, I think that happened outside of my back door. Those are my apartments in the picture..

RIP

The article mentions that the rider hit a tree with his head. 35 mph is more than enough to be fatal. 20mph is more than enough.

My bike veered to the right and pitched me into the woods when my kickstand was down. I know this is a newer bike, but if the switch was by passed, it may have happened.

Yes, from the description sounds like a mechanical failure.

What a crappy piece of news

Rest in peace
