He was at least conscious when we arrived back at the scene. Said his leg hurt and things, which gave us a better look on the entire event.

Story is this: Son was heading in one direction on the road. A truck heading the opposite direction. A minivan was making a left turn across Son's lane and into the truck's lane. This van cliped just behind the driver's rear wheel of the truck. This spun the truck into Son's lane and the truck hit Son's side head on. This was all told to me by someone who was there as I sat and waited for a replacement helmet so I could ride home.

What is better is that the driver of the van that started all this (clipped the truck) was driving someone else's car and has not had his license for more than a month. Try not to pass too much judgment and hate on him as he was pretty shaken up by everything especially due to Son's involvement.

Fire and EMS were there VERY quickly and handled things extremely well. My most sincere thanks goes out to them, especially since one of them gave me a helmet to use to get home since mine was stolen at the scene. If I can sell the helmet (dirtbike helmet) I plan on donating the money to the department as a sign of thanks. I suggest we get a thank you card and pass it around at the next Thursday meet and send it their way.

Someone post up on visiting hours and such and keep us informed of how he is doing.

I snagged a set of gloves from his underseat storage and the key as well, incase anyone is looking for them or would like to get them to him once things are said and done.

Really shitty way to end a ride. One of the few cases I've seen where there was absolutely nothing he could have done to avoid this accident. I expect and accept the fact that I might go down when I push it a bit, but nobody expects to get knocked off a straight section of road while riding at a leisurely pace. On a positive note (if there is one), he was concious/alert when he got flown out. Hopefully Winchester was able to administer some good drugs so at least he could enjoy the second flight. Based on past personal injuries, I'm guessing he's going to spend some time in surgery this evening so they can put his leg back together.
