There are those who have, and those who havent... - December 16, 2006, 03:37 PM

and as of today, i have.

Went out w/ the ride from Wegmans in Ashburn led by dodge131. Great people, great riders, awsome pace. Started off on a funky day on limekiln, hit some gravel and the rear slip a little on me (first time ive had this happen), caught it and went on. then about an hour or so later we're in B.F.E., my front tire hits some gravel, dirt, what ever the hell it was and slides a little. catch it and move on. well on the next corner my mind is still on the previous corner and back where my tire slid on limekiln, not on what im doing, so i bring my head to look through the corner, my head goes to the right, my eyes go to the pile of gravel/sand on the left, and we all know what target fixation is and does. so at about 25-30 mph (i knew what was happening and had a little time to slow) i low slid onto the side of the road. I'm 100% ok, little strawberry on my right hip, and a sore neck. the bike is ok, some cosmetic damage but nothing horrid.

we live and we learn, what doesnt kill us makes us stronger and all that crap! PEACE IM OUT!

Tail section cracked and helmet busted up

Fairings a little rashed and a little crack where they meet. Frame slider did its job well but bent a little.

Upper fairing cracked where mirror slammed into it.

SUcks man, really sorry to hear that. Glad you are okay and that you had
frame sliders or it could have been ugly for your leg and the bike. Advice, don't
use that helmet again until you have it tested or if it's a cheap one replace it. It
looks like it hit pretty good and if there's inside fractures and you go down seriously
you don't want your helmet compromised. This time of year I hate riding where
your talking about because of all the misplaced sand and gravel. Good luck, hope
you don't get too sore and DON'T look up the price of plastics for that bike. You'll
be real surprised!

PM if it's your only helmet and you want to ride tomorrow since
it will be nice and I'll loan you one. If you wear large, I have a small
arenal of helmets.

glad that you're ok...and it was nice meeting ya.

btw i was the rider behind you who almost crashed into you. I have to say when you slowed down i was braking pretty hard while leaning left. I'm lucky my front end didn't slide or i'll be with you at the ditch.

Good ride tho.

So glad you're alright!!! Bikes can be fixed, and strawberries heal, which is all good. Watch out for aches and pains over the next couple of days and remember, Advil can be your friend!

Hey, at least you're ok and you didn't lose your brake lever or footpeg!

Glad to hear you made out okay, relatively speaking. I know exactly what you went through as I did the same a couple of weeks ago and I'm still sore.
