Which of These Riders Survived Their Crash? - June 6, 2011, 07:52 AM

Another endorsement for being geared up ...
Two motorcyclist crashed in just about the same area in the same fashion; front end washout. One of these riders survived. The other didn't.

I had a booboo 2 weeks ago, front end washed out and went over a 75 foot cliff, then the RC decided to land on top of me when i stopped.

there was a guy on a cruiser that wrecked the same time i did a few turns behind me. his bike had minimal damage, like some dents and dirt and he was airlifted same as me, and ended up dying. it still amazes me that cruiser riders think that hitting a ditch on a cruiser at 30mph is much safer than hitting the ditch on a sport bike at 30mph, so they don't need to wear any safety gear.

I have 8 major fractures, femur was sticking through my suit. ribs, lower leg, left forearm, wrist, right elbow, crushed hip, all kinds of fun stuff. luckiest man alive cause i am alive for one and i kept all my limbs, no back/neck/head trauma and everything is working, although left hip/leg movement is limited at the moment.

arai ftw, only lost 1 piece of plastic on it and the visor, with some scuffs and stuff.

this pic says it all about how gear can save your ass:

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

Yep. First time we went down the owner of the cabin we were staying in was telling us stories about the bikes he had to tow back up the drop-offs. Took one looke at the gear and and told us we might be hot thanks to it being 90ish outside, but we would end up in better shape then the last guy.

RIP to the rider though.

Dress for the crash, not the ride.

I like what a guy on SMJ once posted about wearing gear: Sweat, don't bleed. I'd just add that gear + sweat is MUCH cheaper than blood.

How's my posting? Please direct all concerns and inquiries to DCSBN's chief content manager, Hollywood, via PM.

Had a guy from work ask, "Don't you ever ride in just a t-shirt?" Nope.
