I saw a script on the news this morning about a police officer who was on his personal motorcycle and was killed. I hate to hear news like this

Edited - not the news article I was looking for.

I saw on the news last night that a police officer lost control of his bike and hit a curb. My prayers go out to him and his family.

This can not be repeated enough. No matter how careful you think you are being, you can't be careful enough. Stay safe out there and be aware of everything at ALL times. Just because you think people see you doesn't mean they do. Anything can happen at any time.

BE CAREFUL!

Unfortunately, people in cages (cars) are conditioned to only look out for other cages... and trucks (and anything else that makes them vulnerable) so always be careful and ride within your limits.

one time on COPS there was a motorcycle chase and the guy on the bike pulled over but the cop car never stopped running the motorcyclist over and killing him. That ticked me off more than anything...The guy was only speeding, got way ahead of the cop, pulled over, and was killed for it. Thats messed up if you ask me...some kind of grudge against motorcyclists or is it just me?

I'm sure he wanted to kill someone. Not to mention his career, his life, and everything else that mattered to him. Unfortunately, mistakes happen (I suppose your idea could have been correct?).

That's a true statement...but summer they are not paying attention either.

Assume they don't see you... 99% of the time they don't. Slow down a bit around intersections, cover your brakes, and be ready to react...watch the front tire and never ever assume the driver sees you, even if they are looking directly at you. Also, during the day make sure your high beam is on as well.
