Welp, it happened - May 10, 2013, 11:49 AM

Going north on 28, right before 66 by old centerville..

Dude was in the right turn lane, I'm traveling in the center lane he cuts me off at the last second and then slams his brake cause the light turned yellow.. hit my brakes, no good though only about 20 feet between me and his rear bumper and i ended up hitting it pretty hard, managed to keep the bike upright and kept from getting thrown off at least..

He got cited for improper lane change.. just got off the phone with my insurance and his and it seems to be shaping up to be covered by his.. Can anyone recommend a shop around here? Centerville/Manassas area.

Not much damage on me thankfully, leg's swollen and its difficult to walk but it seems like a strained tendon.

Pics, of course..

Don't know of any shops, just wanted to chime in to say that I'm glad you're ok. I worry about seriously losing my temper if something like that happened to me.

Damn, man.

Glad you're okay for the most part.

I'm sure others will chime in with a shop to take car of you.

I think MHKS would be the closest to you but I'm not very familiar with their service department.

I'm surprised this worked out 'legally' for you ... meaning usually the rear ender is held responsible. How did they determine the story you told was the truth? Cameras?

More importantly glad you are ok, and that his insurance is taking care of it.

Damn man sorry to hear.....that time of year for some of us unfortunately. At least you came away mostly unharmed and insurance is gonna do its job to make you whole.

Hit up Jason at Brooks Cyles, he will do right by ya and does insurance type work/repairs.

glad you're okay, doesn't look that bad actually. You may be able to pick up a headlight housing from the web and just install it. I'm sure someone will chime in with a good job to take it to. I know car shops...but not so sure about a front end wreck on a bike.

with that old of a bike, not sure how your mechanical skills are, I dont think it would be hard to find a red upper and headlights on ebay and then just pocket all the extra insurance money.

That swollen leg seems like it'll be more than "Not much" damage, maybe not for a few years though ):

There's also a decent chance they might total that bike being how old it is. When doing an insurance estimate and pricing out everything with labor and new oem parts, I bet the estimate for your damage is going be around the $1500 range, which would be nice because I bet it'll cost you at most $500ish buying used parts and fixing it yourself.

Don't settle with his insurance until you've got your medical straightened out. Keep track of everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. Time off from work. Miles to/from doctor's (GO TO THE DOC!). Miles to/from shop (I recommend Manassas Honda). If any of your gear is damaged, make sure that's noted. Any money that comes out of your pocket to deal with this stuff. All of it is his responsibility.

And when you get a new bike, go sign up for Skills Refresh/BRC2... which is what I recommended to you in your intro thread since you're a new rider.

go to the doctor immediately no matter what the assessment of your injuries. You are alive to tell the tale. That's always great to hear! Bikes can be replaced..you can't.
