Yup that's me getting taken out - April 4, 2011, 05:08 PM

Orange shirt, white helmet, that's me getting hit first. Guy laying on the left broke his leg and needed surgery, guy that hit me fractured a vertebrae. The guy that hit me apologized which was most welcomed on my part.

I was able to pick the bike up and made it to the pits.

I appreciate everyone that was available to help during the entire weekend and especially workers and EMTs in turn 1. I also appreciate my wife and all my motorcycle friends.

Pics of the bike to come at some point. till then, enjoy this nice $620 photo

Damn Phil... Sorry your day ended that way... Jen and I were talking during one of the races and she said your first one wasn't a great one either.. All I know is the one I saw, which was probably your second one, was awesome.. you were in a pack that kept going back and forth off T10..

So glad you are ok though.. You gonna be at Roger's on Monday?

I will vouch for ya there. The second thing you said to me was "if you can, tell them (bike #) is ok!! So my wife knows!!"
Sorry I didn't get to you sooner, I had to run from the exit of 1 over to you. And, you slid so far I thought you walked over there to get out of the way.

Didn't slide that far, after hearing the bike was turned off I ran for the sidelines so I could be a spectator instead of being part of the scenery. Then I said I was far enough and laid down to figure out if I was ok or not. I just didn't want to get ran over.

After that you helped me get the bike up, you checked it out real quick, and I rode it back. As soon as I pulled into the pit I looked at the guys I was with and said "help me clean up this bike" and "I need a new glove". A friend tried to bend the rear set back into place and it snapped. Probably a good thing.

The person that hit me called me up and personally apologized. He sounds like a stand up guy and simply had a lapse of judgment at that moment in time. He wont be riding the rest of the season because of his neck fracture.

Heard you need a tow on the 11th at summit. If you have a moment this week, stop by my house, bring some tools and a helmet. Fix my bike and I'll give you a tow

I'll show you the slow line and give you some pointers on getting rear ended.

I'm glad you are ok, Phil. As far as the other guy goes, I hope he is ok too since earlier it was mentioned that he has a neck fracture.

Was it just me, or does it seem like he just slammed right into Phil?!?!? I'm frustrated to see such an obvious lack of decision making. Is it safe to assume that this guy was trying to hot shot it into the first turn because he started out near the back of the pack? Ride safe folks!

Trying to turn into turn 1 on just the front wheel == no bueno.

Damn Phil. Glad you're alright. Turn 1 has seen it's fair share of incidents for sure. MagicRat has a video somewhere of a crash unfolding back in 2008. Good footage of one of my former teammates getting hit and taking the other out.
