Cool 2nd Annual Tiki Ride!! - February 19, 2008, 03:30 PM

RIDE TO THE 29TH ANNUAL TIKI BAR OPENING DAY
(4/18 - 4/20)

Last year's thread: Devil's Tiki Ride (Solomons MD)

I am going to the museum this time too.

[THIS SPACE WILL CONTAIN UP-TO-DATE TIKI RIDE INFORMATION]

We will have a house near Cedar Point for 13 people. The cost per person is $32.00. Sleeping arrangments are decided on first come first serve basis - who ever pays first gets first choice. The house is very close to the beach, and not far from the Cedar Point Lighthouse. It is maybe 5-7 miles from Solomons.

The total cost of the house for the two nights is $420 plus $200 deposit. I am not profiting off anything. In fact, I'm losing money due to paypal fees I forgot to include when I posted the per person cost. Buy me some drinks or something.

There will always be at least one person at the house (my sister is coming and will be watching my daughter when wifey and I go out) so bikes are safe. Additionally, my two dogs will be tied up outside.

SIGN UP LIST (those who have made their choice clear)

Staying at the house (thus friday evening ride) $32.00 per person
Payment should be by cash in person or paypal to itbnorris at netscape dot net

These people have paid...
1) DvlsAdvc8 (Brad)
2) wildflwr (DvlsAdvc8's wife) (Jennifer)
3) DvlsAdvc8's sister (Jessica)
4) r6speed
5) Dodge131 (Mike)
6) Java927 (Tori)
7) Nate (*late update, sorry, forgot he already paid me cash*)
8 )Jeff (r6speed's friend)
9) David (r6speed's friend)
10) OrangeShirtDude (John)
11) ih8hippies (Jason)
12) Harleyguy
13) Harleyguy's brother

BEING ON THIS LIST DOES NOT GARANTEE YOU A SPOT IN THE HOUSE; YOUR SPOT IS NOT RESERVED UNTIL YOU HAVE PAID - THANKS!

It's that time of year again! We're 60 days out, but I thought I'd get things rolling.

I'm thinking about renting a house for the weekend, depending on how many people I can get to go in on it.

It's a ride because I'm riding there, and I posted it. Last year we planned to do some local roads and hit some spots prior to drinking but it was a first time thing and time became an issue.

We discussed this last year and once planning is further along I will again post up the plan to prevent riding under the influence for this year. Until then, have a look at last year's thread. There are always quite a few bikes at this event.

I'm happy to say last year was a big success and no one was on the road under the influence. Including me, despite earlier in the day:

That said, if one can't avoid getting shit-faced, passed-out drunk, then this ride probably isn't for you unless our drinking plan includes DD support.

This thread is just to get it out there so people who want to come can plan. The ride there can be pretty good when you're not getting stuck behind paint trucks.

So we have a couple options - as it turns out, getting a house for the weekend doesn't appear to be as expensive as I thought so a couple nights is do-able.

The questions are when to go and how long to stay.

The bar opens at noon Friday. Friday night is the biggest. Saturday is quiet during the day. Saturday night brings a pretty good crowd.

Last year we arrived around 2pm or so Saturday, ate at Solomons pier, and left late that night (early Sun.)

I'd like to hear some opinions - what do you think?

1) Get a place for the weekend, ride out Friday evening and stay the weekend (surely some people will come and go).

2) Get a place to crash for Saturday night only. Ride out Saturday morning. Return Sunday morning.

3) No place to stay. Ride out Saturday morning, leave late at night - same as last year.

I'm also looking to hit the Naval Air Test Musuem that we skipped last time - so this is something to do while taking a break from riding on Saturday.
