4/3 - Lets take a trip down memory lane (RT33) - March 25, 2016, 06:37 PM

Lets take a ride out through some favorable roads in VA/WV and re-hash some old memories.

This is not a 'noob' ride.

I'm not looking to have a huge group, just a few goldens.

Meetup early, ride out, eat, ride back. PM me if you're interested.

I've been on scene for 4 separate MC crashes on the VA/WV section of Rt 33 and am aware of at least a dozen more just from folks on .com or .net. I have long since sworn off doing group rides on it. A small group of OGs with nothing to prove might be cool though.

Hell, I'm in. I was just there yesterday. Romney, Peru, Brandywine, Ruckersville, then up 29 home.

There is a great road that runs east/west that dumps out onto S. Fork Rd at Peru that is more my style these days. Here's a teaser pic of it:

Like a predator stalking its prey. Pacing at a distance, observing, pondering. The sound of the chicken thunders in the distance. bwaaaak, bwaaak!

Looks like a forestry road. Is it an actual road?
Oh, is that a tree across it?
Last year I did the Flagpole Knob run on the GSA again. It was less fun than the first time because it was a lot wetter than I expected. Could have used knobbies.

It's a road, and goes east towards Bergton. Google maps indicates that it doesn't go thru but it does.

Yeah, there was a tree down across it that day. I had to build a rock ramp to get over it on the SM-T.

I imagine going Skidmore to Flag Pole on the GSA with street rubber was a handful in the wet! PM incoming.

Saw the photo at ADV, awesome idea with the ramp!
Man, let me tell you, that ride was hairy. I went Skidmore the first time. The last time I went I felt emboldened so I went from Briery Branch Va up 924 till it hit FR85 then to Flagpole. I went down Skidmore to Rt 33. Wet loose shale is super on street tires. In hindsight it would have been easier to go reverse.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
