Thumbs up American Diabetes Association - Tour de Cure 2009 - June 14th - March 23, 2009, 09:58 AM

I haven't done an organized bicycling event in quite some time and I'm looking at the Tour de Cure on June 14th for a ride this year. Its starts and finishes at the Reston Town Center. They have routes that vary in length from 12 miles to 100 miles. I'm either going to do the 63 mile route or 100 mile route. I can only assume that the majority of the routes will take place in Reston/Herndon and on the W&OD. The 100 mile route may go west on the W&OD trail and return the same way.

Registration is $15 before March 31 and $25 after March 31. My brother is diabetic, so I'm doing this for him. All cyclists must raise a minimum of $175 to participate.

Anybody else intersted in doing this with me? June 14th is a Sunday and it's not a race weekend at Summit.

Here's a link to the ride info on ADA's website: http://tour.diabetes.org/site/TR/Tou...try&fr_id=5582

To sponsor me and make a donation: http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR?pg=...582&px=4658280

Edit - I know this isn't a motorcycle related event and some people might believe this doesn't belong anywhere on this forum, but honestly, I don't care. Please no bs or threadjacking.

NP. My mom is diabetic so I am all about this type of stuff. The other week I posted up about my fiancee doing the Avon Walk for A Cure in May. Me hopes you have better luck then I did.

I am now registered for the event and soliciting for donations. My OP has a link to my page on the ADA's website. A donation of any size helps.

Thank you.

Good post. We attend these these every year since Gold's is one of biggest sponsors for them. We'll be raising money for them at each gym as usual.

This is a great event, I used to help do the first water stop for years. So much fun!

You can also volunteer to help with the event. I am going to a meeting next Wednesday for volunteers...they feed you dinner and there's a raffel for prizes. I'm hoping to be a "motorcycle escort" to the riders. Anyone care to join me??
