Thumbs up Anyone up for a multi day ride at the end of May? - February 14, 2011, 01:13 PM

I'm thinking about leaving on Friday 5/27, return 30 or 31. Not sure of the destination, I'm up for suggestions. Lots of good food will be had for sure

That is the weekend before my planned ride to the Vintage Scooter show in NJ on Saturday and the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance in CT on Sunday. I might be able to do both weekends depending on what the destination is.

Not sure of the destination yet. Probably be in a southerly direction. Maybe hit deals gap on the way down since I've never been there.

Camp. Mike was telling me about a couple of motorcycle only campgrounds down in NC/GA, I think that would be the best bet. I haven't looked for them yet...

Here's something I came up with real quick:

Map

First leg ride to: 374 miles, 8ish hours
Head south into NC, stay here:::RIDER'S ROOST :: MOTORCYCLE RESORT & CAMPGROUND ::
$22 for first two people, $9 each additional for camping. First come, first served.

Second leg into Deals Gap: 200 miles, 4.5ish hours
Ride into Deals Gap, run up and down the Dragon, stay at: Motel & Camping at Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort, Deals Gap, NC (at the bottom), $12 first two, $6 each additional, also first come first served.

Third Leg: 339 miles, 7ish hours
Head north over the dragon again, in WV. Stay at Welcome to Pleasant Valley Campground, WV , nothing about price, but it does say motorcycle friendly.

Final Leg: 304 miles, 6.5ish hours
Head north, then east to home. Maybe do a run over 33 to Harrisonburg if we're feeling up to it.

Total: 1200ish miles, 4 days. Leave Friday 5/27, return Monday 5/30

btw the prices like "$22 for first two people" are for people in the same tent.
