Blue Ridge Bike Fest 2010 - April 9-11 - March 2, 2010, 11:06 AM

First weekend trip is in the works. I plan to go to the Blue Ridge Bike Fest in Roanoke, VA April 10-11. I didn't go last year and I think this is just the 2nd annual one.

I plan to ride down Rt 29 to Lynchburg then some back roads to Roanoke. Lynchburg is a really cool old rustic town. There are some good roads twisty roads i want to hit around the area.

The event might suck and I'm not planning on spending a huge amount of time there. I plan to ride around the area since i rarely make it down there.

UPDATE March 8th
I made reservations at this motel today. I reserved 2 rooms with each room having 2 double beds. Each room can sleep 4 people if you are small or a couple. The rooms are $56 per night, I requested ground level rooms.

Meeting at Haymarket Sheetz at 9am, lunch in Lynchburg, get to Roanoke whenever, eat, drink, watch the bikini contest, stunt show, check out the bike show, wonder around, ride around, act stupid, drink some more, watch Adam get drunk and fight someone, join in if feeling frisky and so on. I plan to come home Sunday morning. I want to ride around down there as much as possible but still enjoy the show and other stuff.

I thought about that but early April in the mountains might be too cold to camp. $60 a night isn't bad. Find someone to split the room with, pay for 1 night each. they say on their website that up to 5 people can stay in a room with 2 double beds and a roll away bed.
I'm not sharing my bed unless it's with a chick. A double isn't very big, even for a skinny guy like me.

If you have the opportunity, ride skyline drive/blue ridge parkway down, especially south of 33. The parkway isn't filled with cops like skyline is so you can run a bit more spirited pace.

My coworkers were all talking about this today.
Looks like our bikes will be there too: http://rumblewithacause.org/

Who knows, David, I might end up taking one for the team and going down there to sell raffle tickets.
