Boomchic and I went to a bout in Sterling. It was interesting I suppose but we were both expecting it to be different.

Ok it was basically a gym floor with a blue oval in tape stuck down and they went round and round in circles trying to pass each other....sometimes grabbing onto each other to catapult them around the other person. Sometimes people wiped out. We were just a little bored and left halfway through.

THAT's good info. I've been wanting to check it out, but was curious if it was going to be lame. I already knew they didn't have ramped tracks, but walking out bored speaks volumes.

I concur with Kevers.

I am curious to know if the bouts are more aggressive and if the crowds are louder ( sans serves beer) at the Amory. I hoped that what we saw was a dud due to the fact that it was in a family center and there were kids all over the place eating birthday cake. Def not the setting I envision when I think of a roller derby bout with angry crazy tattoo'd bitches.

Yeah could have been the venue like Boom said. I suppose it was just way more tame than I/we were expecting.
