Drinks with noobs and .net vets? - October 28, 2014, 08:44 PM

I was wondering if anyone has ever organized like a social meetup of some kind for some beers, pub food, and good bike conversation. Since there are a lot of new members and even people new to the area (I'm one!), I thought maybe it'd be fun to get together a bunch of us on .net and hang out one night. Bikes and cages equally welcome.

Just an idea...any interest?

This.

Mohawk stuff tends to be pretty fun, and those dudes do a lot for charities. They donated some cool shit for my IAVA benefit a while back. Had a blast.

LOL.

That's how bike nights back in the late 70's usually finished up. Sometimes followed up by a day of wrenching on a busted up bike.

I'm gonna try to plan at least a monthly event next riding season, just a get together at a restaurant/bar to catch up.. see how many people actually come out.

Have yet to go on one Mohawk riders event where there isn't at least one crash.

Last summers - or 2 summers ago - 211 disaster made me nix all that nonsense.

Rob set up a hooters event or something.

Not specific to Mohawk Riders but group ride madness is one of the main reasons I left .net/.com years ago. I had some great group rides with smaller groups of experienced riders but man some of the other rides were a hot mess. I remember an R6 being dropped at the Shell station on 211, a CBR/Ninja 6 getting dumped at a stoplight, and on 211 the first decreasing radius left heading up from Sperryville two guys went down even after being warned to not try to hot rod it up on their first run.

So all that said I'm hoping to meet some new people to ride with next year who like a moderate to fast pace, know their limits, and are safe riders.

Ohh, and one more thing what happened to .com looks like a damn graveyard over there and even this site is quieter than I remember it.

Not sure I follow, I just want people who know about following distance. The accident i mentioned at a stoplight and on 211 were very much related to riding some ones ass. Rider one on 211 was just riding dumb and the second rider was all over his ass thinking it was a race.
