Group Ride on April 6 - March 6, 2008, 10:19 AM

Afriend of mine named Shift is having a newbie ride. Heres the details..

The weather is getting warmer and it's time to start riding again for many. I talked to Magic Rat a few weeks back about his plans for noob rides this year with plans of helping him out. As things turn out, MR will be busy with work and some track riding until fall. So i decided to pick up the slack this year to fill my track void. I had a great time doing them in 2005, so why not...
In the past, we had noob rides approaching triple digit numbers of riders. MAN, WAS THAT A SIGHT TO SEE! Meeting lots of new people, putting faces to screen names, and riding fun roads -- I know I'm looking forward to it!

Here's what's projected so far: (may be flexible, but looking very solid right now)

DATE: Sunday, April 6 (if the chance of rain is greater than 30%, we will postpone to a date within 3 weeks)

TIME: 10am

MEET UP POINT: Sheetz gas station in Haymarket, VA

ROUTE LENGTH: To be determined -- Returning appx 5pm, 6 at latest.

PACE: Speed limit to 10 over for noob groups. An intermediate group may be formed for more experienced riders. Groups will be formed on site.

WHO: Permit riders to advanced riders. Just be able to ride for 1-2 hours between breaks.

STOPPING FOR LUNCH: Yes

REQUIRED FOR PARTICIPATION: Valid M/C license, M/C insurance, valid inspection and a fully functioning bike, appropriate safety gear: dot/snell helmet, gloves, and jacket. No 2 up riding unless you clear it with me first. You will also need a minimum of $25 for gas and food -- and $10 for park entrance if we decide to go on Skyline Drive. DO NOT SHOW UP WITH AN UNSAFE BIKE. YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY.

We will need help. If you'd like to volunteer to lead/sweep/road block please pm me. Also, if someone would be gracious enough to volunteer to bring a pick up as a rescue vehicle behind the last group, that would be awesome. (we all know "it" happens sometimes) I have ramps and straps if needed.

So with all that said, post up if you are coming, interested or have any questions.

If someone wants to post this on .net, that would be cool.

COME ON WARM WEATHER!!!

It's a long ways off, but I might be able to help out. Will be keeping it in mind.

If you need help with any of the rides let me know. I'm a Frederick, MD native that knows every road in the county but I also currently live in Chesapeake Beach so I can help out in both areas. I usually head back to Frederick on the weekends. Either way I'd be willing to help out with whatever you might need for a group ride.

Anyone in Frederick thinking about heading out to this?

Edit: Sweet. Maybe we can meet up this time Charlie.
