Iron Butt ride planned - March 2, 2009, 08:55 PM

I kinda wanna do the Iron butt ride. I read the rules and info on it today and seems pretty straight forward.
I might be looking for someone to roll with me. Or i might just go alone. I tend to prefer long rides alone.
I planned my route on the map below. I have no set date. It will be on the fly. The weather will have to be good and i'll have to feel like it. I plan to do it on my sport bike. I plan to just ride my route as long as i can, then sleep at a sleazy motel, then ride the rest of the way in under 24 hours. It would be a relatively boring all highway ride.
So anyone want to go?

Thats the plan. The longest I have been on my 636 is 11.5 hours when i rode home from Ohio last summer. I'm sure i can handle it. My bike rocks.

not to kill the loop idea, but wouldn't coming back through the mountains cost you more time?

I was thinking of doing a straight shot to Miami,

http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=Mi...49&ie=UTF8&z=5

then cruise the way back.

How many miles do you need to do? Also is it for a 24hrs period, or a 36 or 48? I have a route that goes down to Deals Gap 701 miles in 12hours, and the next morning do 500 mile loop.

2 summers ago I did Frederick MD to Columbia SC and back for my Iron Butt Award. Wasn't even trying to do an Iron Butt (trying to get laid...ha!)
I did it on the R1... it wasn't bad. When you guys know where your going I'll do it again... it'll be nicer on the ninja.

its 1000 miles in 24 hours.

95 south is too congested with too many large cities and too many minivans going to FL. I think i better stick to the less populated highways.

Three year ago I did 830 mile all back roads in PA in a 20 hour period. Started in PA(Pen State U) at 7:00AM to my house in MD at 2:00AM.. I only stop for gas and a very short lunch...

What about a slightly scenic trip to South of the border and back?
