Its time to keep helping others. People need the red stuff - March 9, 2010, 05:22 PM

I have spent the last 3 years working on the underwear ride and every year the same thing comes up in our planning meetings and that is can we also do a blood drive. Logistics have not seemed to work out for that to happen unfortunately. The reason it keeps coming up is because blood drives are a big thing to me for a couple reasons. The first being that I have personally benefited from them. During surgery after my accident that made me Nubbs, I received donated blood. I also have many friends that have received donated blood over the years because of injuries sustained in different forms of racing accidents. Lets face it, We all ride bikes and chances are at some point we will each go down. That’s just the plan simple facts. We don’t know how bad that down will be. But if it is bad enough that we need blood I hope that there is blood in a bank waiting for us. The only way that blood is going to be there is for people to keep donating. It doesn’t take long and it doesn’t hurt all that bad.

MARRC continues its mission to look out for the area riders and has picked a bank that directly serves each and every one of us if we were in need. But it goes way past us. They are helping the whole community our friends and families as well. The least we can do is sign up and donate blood. It isn’t going to cost you anything but some of your time. It is early enough in the year that you are probably not going to miss out on some big group ride. Its wont be nice enough to go to the beach. So why don’t you sign up and help out a great organization and people in need.

Nubbs and Guzz, as soon as I determine if I am going to CMP or not, I'll know if I am donating. If I go to CMP, no donation. If I don't go, I'm donating for sure.
