MD Newbie Ride - Sunday 9/28 - September 22, 2008, 07:59 PM

It's been a while and some people have been asking for it...

The Godfather of the North Beach Route is at it again!!!

WHEN: 09/28/08

TIME: riders meeting at 0915 and roll out by 930!!!

MEET LOCATION: 8761 Piney Orchard Parkway

DURATION OF RIDE - At least 3 to 4 hours including lunch

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: FRIKIN EASY PACE!

REQUIREMENTS: VALID Driver's license (or at least a learners), protective gear (helmet, gloves, jacket, stuff like that), full leathers not necessary (but if you have em, wear em!), and a good attitude.

Ok. Some people have asked me to have another newbie ride. This ride is about 120 miles of everything you can think of. The pace is going to be a NEWBIE PACE. If your looking for a ballers ride, wheelies, lane splitting, or aggressive riding, this is NOT the ride for you. This ride is meant to show new riders what they can look forward to when riding. But what I mean by new riders, are newer riders who feel comfortable on your bike. If you stil find yourself paniking at every turn or stop, this might not be the ride for you. Get a little more comfotable on your bike and come out next time! Usually I have a couple of leaders who lead a little "spirited" ride but I dont think they are available.
We go through tree cover, increasing/decreasing radius turns, narrow roads, sweepers, and absolutely beautiful scenery! The reason I do this is to give back to people what someone took the time to give to me.

We start at the BP gas station in Odenton and wind up in North Beach (actually on the water - its near Cheasapeake Beach for those who dont know). We usually stop at Ledo's Pizza for lunch but thats not in stone. The largest group I have ever had is over 100 riders (AND IT WAS AWESOME!) but Im not looking for that right now. If your wanna ride two up, I dont have a probem with that (as long as your not a newb-PLEASE HIT ME UP ABOUT THIS FIRST). I should have my video camera rolling but well see!

MAGIC-RAT - think you can make it?!?!

Again, this is not going to be a ballers ride. If your wanna ride and doo endo's, wheelies, flying down the road - PLEASE DONT COME. No offense - but this ride serves a different purpose.

WEATHER ADVISORY!

This is my deal - If its OVER 30% chance of rain, I look out the window that morning and see if its dry or looks like rain. If it's wet outside, Ill wait for a little while and go out if it clears. If its raining, ride is done and will be rescheduled. The reason for this is because the route has a lot of tree coverage and I dont want or have anyone else hitting any down limbs.

Come join - People can attest that it's a hoot....

BTW - always looking for leaders/sweepers....

When you are a new rider, you are mostly relying on luck to survive. You start with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience -- the idea is to fill up the experience bag before the luck bag runs out.

DEEP--this is indeed a twisty ride.

Is this the same as the one somebody told me about on .com?

I love that there are twisties within 20 miles of my house in Maryland

no regrets

This is an awesome ride for noobs. This was the very first Group ride I went on. James leads a great ride through some great roads at a great pace. If you can make it to this ride you will not be disappointed.

Darn, I'll be out of town and will unfortunately miss it. Still haven't been on the North Beach route yet.

You are lucky man .. too bad the ride is only for 3-4 hours .. not worth going all the way

She hasnt been riding much lately, so she really needs to work back into riding slowly.

She'd kill me if i drug her out to this ride.
