Cool Military Ride & BBQ this Saturday - June 7, 2006, 12:34 PM

Hey guys, I am organizing a military only ride this weekend its going to be a novice level ride but we are definately gonna get some twisties in the mix. It will be a great time and afterward we will be bbq'ing at Fort Hunt off GW PKWY down by Mount Vernon. The group will depart from the Fort Belvoir Class 6 @ 0800(so arrive early to top off) and probably end up at Fort Hunt around 1230-1300hrs. This is a first for us down here but if we get a showing we'll make a monthly event.
PM me with questions.....
Just add your name and pm me
Thanks, Paul

Yeah the ride happened. I don't think that most of the guys had been out west before so it was a new experience for them. We took it nice and easy since there were a couple of people that were new to the roads and a couple of people that were new to riding (recent MSF's). We stopped at about 11 and the newest riders broke off. We ended up heading out to 211 (for my first and only time this season) and then headed back home. I'll pm you for the next one because they were talking about making this an every month thing.

It was nice getting out and riding away from the city. Made a few changes to the route on the fly but all in all it was a pretty good ride. We had a few cages who tried to share our lanes a couple times on the way home, but no one went down and everyone made it home with their rides still shiny. Jeff, thanks a million for sweeping! I was very suprised at the amount of bicycle riders we encountered yesterday. I have seen a few out that direction before, but I bet we rode up on atleast 50-75 of them, they were everywhere. Next ride we have, anybody who wants to roll should show up.

No problem at all. Thanks for letting me tag along since I'm not military. The closest thing about me and the military was that I was recruited to go to West Point. Nice route James. I'm still waiting for us to either make it out to WV or just go out West somewhere and get lost.
