MoCo Noob Ride #3 - August 11, 2009, 10:36 PM

Saturday 15 of August, MoCo Noob Ride #3

Noob and 2-up friendly, ride out to Harpers Ferry and back. The entire loop should be around 100 miles. I haven't decided on the route yet, but the idea is to ride out through MoCo and ride back through parts of WV, NoVA and MoCo.

I will post a more definitive route once I make up my mind, and I will keep an eye on the weather. Right now weather.com forecasts 30% rain for Saturday, we'll see how that turns out, and I'll consider Sunday as an alternative.

I'll be riding 2-up with my wife, and the pace will be very chill and noob friendly. Ride your own pace, I don't mind waiting for people.

I've decided to limit the number of bikes to 10 for this ride. Sorry, but I don't want to repeat the situation from last Saturday where I ended up having more people than I was able to keep track of.

Meet at the Shell on Rt. 28 (right off 270 - exit 6B) at 9AM, stands up at 9:30 the latest.

I'm definitely interested, the only thing you gotta watch out for is traffic on the weekends. It tends to get pretty crowded through the park and even though there's some nice twisties there, if you get stuck behind one car it kinda ruins the run and it's not exactly safe to pass given how sharp and blind the turns can be. Otherwise it's an awesome route.

Scratch that, I was thinking of Cunningham Falls Park. Not sure about the Catoctin Mountain.

Yeah but that's just a short stretch of the roads on the mountain. That's the main one I'm familiar with, not sure about the rest of them.

Looks like Catoctin and Cunningham are divided by rt 77 which is the road I had thought of taking. Get there by 15 and return though 17.

Bummer. I'll be out of the area on Saturday morning. If it's helpful for the count, you can put me in the maybe category, because if it ends up raining and the ride is rescheduled to Sunday, I'm definitely interested in making it.
