Motorcycle Vacation Help: VA-TN (4-5 days) - June 2, 2006, 09:49 AM

I'm looking to take a motorcycle vacation by myself down to Tennessee to ride around there. I was wondering if anyone had any tips or routes for multi-day riding. I have no destination in mind yet, so I'm open to suggestions.

I live in Grottoes VA and I'm on a Ninja ZX6-R with no luggage compartments.

EDIT: Destination

Looks like it's going to be the BRP the whole way. It looks like too much fun not to ride the thing down with a stop at Deal's Gap. They seem like great biker destinations that I just don't want to have always read about.

My turn around point my be Boone, NC with some riding along 421, 321, and 194.

Deals gap
Smoky mountains
Carolina BBQ and other redneck stuff.

My friend and did that trip a few years ago. Took Route 11 instead of I81. Good times, good times.

Going to Deals Gap next Wednesday.

Come on down, 130 or so SV people, and about 100 FZ1 guys with Mohawks

Justin, I have a couple pieces of detachable soft luggage that you can borrow, a tank bag and a tail bag. You know, for soap and toothpaste and extra clothes and stuff. 5 days is quite a stretch if you can only carry what fits under the seat. You've gotta come to Wangchester and get it though. pm if interested....

I usually strap a bookbag to the tail with it's waist straps. That's done well for me in the past. I figure if I find another one to wear (which I'm sure I've got) I can have two bags. I may even strap that one to the fairing stay (which i've also done).

I guess I really only need a couple of pairs of shorts to wear under my riding pants and some light shirts. It's not like I need a sweater or jacket liners.

Does anyone have any favorite stops along the BRP. I plan on riding the whole thing down to NC.

I've also made a 6 page map of the BRP that I may find a way to post up here later.
