Talking Newb Ride in MoCo - July 23, 2009, 10:27 AM

Trying to organize a ride for a few newbs. Easy and very chill, likely within +10 of the posted speed limit.

Saturday morning (around 9AM), meet at the Shell on Rt28, right off 270 - exit 6B.

Head North towards Sugarloaf Mtn, West to Point of Rocks, South to Whites Ferry and River Road (depending on time).

Post up if interested, weather looks promising for Saturday morning, so it should be a nice fun ride.

Wear leathers for your safety if you have them, I plan on keeping everyone as safe as possible.

Stop speaking swahili ya weirdos.

Be wary on River road (Seneca portion) about gravel. I posted up a couple months back about some bad gravel patches, pay extra attention to the area between Montevideo and Partnership intersections. A lot of gravel driveways and lots in that section and some of the gravel gets pushed out onto the road. Partnership and River has always had a large gravel pile at their intersection. Watch out for gravel driveways on the more rural areas towards Sugarloaf and anywhere outside of Poolesville proper.

Oh and that huge left hand sweeper going towards the ferry is fun but be careful! Thats where my GTI and tree got into a fight at 85 mph

It's Italian, the language of culture and looooove, ya sheep humpin', cousin lovin' hicks!

J/K, thanks for the warnings, I'll keep my eyes open. Drove around there last week with Kin, and there was one patch of gravel in a turn that had me concerned. Other than that, it was mostly on the sides and easy to avoid. I tend to be more concerned about people pulling out of their driveways without paying attention to who's coming.

hey now, we ain't fredneck county, we keep it classy with the lambs thank you very much

Never had a problem with turnouts except for that weird "split turn" with the triangle-shaped median at the intersection if you know what I'm talking about. Also where Seneca turns into River near Brenton Woods. But definitley keep your eyes open. As for gravel, yeah, there's some fun little turns on River but the back of the head thought of gravel patch keeps the throttle from cracking open too wide.
As for the GTI, it was dead and I didn't get scratch. 2nd or 3rd time I've cheated death, waiting for some final destination shiz to catch up to me.

You live more in five minutes on a bike like this going flat out than some people live in a lifetime.
