Depending on how my schedule works out I might try to ride a portion of the trip with you. I'm planning to head north in late summer. Going up to the Adirondacks in NY and from there there I'll either head towards Niagara Falls, up into Canada and then back down thru the U.P. or I'll head for the White Mountain National Forest in Vermont and maybe swing thru Maine before heading back south.

There's bold riders and old riders, but damn few bold old riders.

Sounds like you'll come for the first 2-3 days or the last few. You've got the dates right:

Just over 5 weeks out! For those on bikes consider what your luggage set-up will be.

We've got a nice group with BigE and five other gentlemen. One has committed for the entire trip.

Hotels are listed on the excel document. So remember to reserve a room the days you're riding. I can have you pair up with +1 so it's cheaper.

This should be my set-up. The tailbag I bought from SVs works as well but the one pictured turns into a backpack. That'll be convenient when exploring the city.

Are you planning to put a fresh Sport touring tire on the rear or change the rear tire out while on your trip?

Slicks.

Just kidding. I'll put on fresh sport touring tires prior to departure. I assume you're doing the same?

I've got a fair amount of dirt on the agenda for my trip so will be rocking fresh DOT knobbies. Just not sure which bike yet. First world problems... LOL.

HA they all look good. I'm digging the one on the left though. What are you leaning towards?

Anyone have experience with airbnb? Looks to be a good alternative to hotels in the big cities.

I've used airbnb in NYC back in June, had a great experience, just make sure you don't have to stay a certain number of nights. Also vrbo.com might be a good resource to check pricing against also.

I've used AirBNB quite a bit and have had good results, however I have had friends use it with bad results. Filty rentals etc.

I think it's a mixed bag, pay through AirBNB and you are at least somewhat protected.
