Exclamation Return of the Twisties - Sat 2/7 - February 3, 2009, 01:59 PM

DEEP and others said they wanted to do a ride this Saturday, so here it is.

Return of the Twisties - this Sat, 2/7

First off the last several rides have been in VA, and have been full of traffic lights and cagers, so it's time to show you people what MD has to offer besides little to no cops.

Since there is a Frederick ride on Sunday I'll keep this in Davidsonville. Believe me you won't be disappointed with this ride.

Time: 11:00am
Meeting place: Ikea parking lot, College Park, MD
Bulk of Ride: back roads w/NO STOP LIGHTS and lots of turns!

*Update*
Road conditions: GOOD, see post #5
Ride Pace:
I'll be leading and my skill level would be intermediate. Pace of ride will depend on who shows up. I am not leaving anyone behind like other group riders do and I want to keep it fun for all. If you just want to top out, then this ride ain't for you. This ride is all on back roads with lots of turns. I like to keep a moderate pace, but that can change.

After the ride you can either go home or follow me over to my place to hang out and grill some burgers and dogs.

I realize this is last minute, but people asked for it so here it is.

Nick, any chance you've driven the route in the past few days or plan to do so before the ride to check road conditions along with gravel/sand situation?

I've seen lots of potholes that have developed in the past 1 - 2 weeks.

If you already done it, cool...you may want to let people know.

If not, it would be my humble suggestion to do so.

If I can make it from JMU to the starting point in time, I'll be there.... Really depends on how fucked up I get Friday night.

The roads are good. I rode the route 2 days ago with my brother and have video to prove it. It's not bad at all. There is no gravel, it was just a little wet (rather had wet spots in certain locations), but it should be good by now. There was one road that had the white powdery salt on the sides, but I think the snow/partial rain today helped clear that up. I will check Friday as well to confirm we are good.

Nope. We are meeting in College Park and heading East, towards Annapolis. Frederick isn't that far. Come on down.

Want to delay an hour say 12pm start time?

Nah, keep it 11. If the weather is still looking good I'll just chill around here Friday night and ride down by 11...

If anyone is riding in from VA it would be great if you would meet me someplace... I'm sure I'd get lost and my GPS is in Harrisonburg.

Rough mileage estimate? What time you think you will be home?

Reason I ask...have a dinner to go to that night and tires are not so great and starting to show cords(ever so slightly)
