Rolling Thunder 2006 - May 6, 2006, 08:39 PM

Anyone planning to do Rolling Thunder this year??? Trying to see who in Manassas/Woodbridge may be around and get there early as a group.

Tried the Patriot Harley thing last year, wound up waiting hours and finally gave up. This year I want to get there early and actually go INTO D.C. Here's the main link for some info.

Post up!!!

I'll be riding... I do every year. Last year I camped out at the Charles Country Fairgrounds for the weekend before the ride. Way fun, lotta bands, food, beer, bikes and vendors. Very clean showers facilities. All around great atmosphere. Anyone else camped out for the party before?

Just curious as to how you prepare for a camp out when you have your bike? Did you bring a car or a trailer and leave it somewhere while you rode??

depends on what your idea of camp is.

Sleeping bag and small tent fit perfectly fine on the back of a bike.

I usually attend with a particular cruiser-riding group. We don't hang around in the Pentagon parking lot for hours beforehand anymore. We've gotten into the practice of either riding into DC right about the time the ride starts to join up with the riders along the route as it passes near the Capitol; or parking in a "secret spot" we have in downtown and watching the bikes roll by for a while, then walking over to The Wall for the speeches and ceremonies.

Last year I rode with the Fort Belvoir EOD Squad. So we had an F-150 stacked with beer and steaks with just a little room left for a few tents and sleeping bags. The owner of the truck had a tricked out custom cruiser he had on a trailer.

This year, I might have the wife follow me down with all the supplies in the truck.

Change in plans, anyone who can make it should meet at Whitt's Harley-Davidson in Manassas on Sunday @ 8:30 AM. I found out they plan to ride straight to the Pentagon and be one of the first groups to participate. You may want to plan on bringing food/snacks and pleanty of water, past experience proves it's going to be a long wait!!!
