Skyline Drive - August 21, 2007, 07:06 PM

My buddy and I are putting a ride together for this Saturday. Skyline drive to meet in the VA area around 9:30. Location will be more solid when there are more interested folks.

Pace will be moderate to semi-fast (I have a new bike to break
in). The more the better. Definite location will be posted by tomorrow.

cheers
-Jay

Yep. Even "semi-fast" on Skyline is pretty much a recipe for disaster.

If you take a large group there, and are seen doing anything over 35mph, I can almost guarantee you'll get pulled.

The road is great, but really not worth the hassle.

OR...take your chances and let us know how much the tickets were for.

Right up the 1 hole.

I might hit it for a slow ride when the fall colors start to show. It's a ride to do for views (has some nice overlooks) not for thrills. Speed limit is 35 and you'll just be stuck behind a freak train of cages.

I discovered that early March is the time for it if you want breathing room. Even then, national parks aren't the best place to get your jollies.

Take Meatspin's advice. Just a bit further west and it's an all-you-can-rail buffet.

WV rules... never had any problems and I've done ore than my fair share of craziness out there.

Toned it down a lot this season, but it's still a blast out there.

I wouldn't go to Skyline unless it was for a speed-limit sightseeing ride.
