Talking Sunday 10/28... Grand Canyon of PA... all day ride? - October 23, 2007, 10:35 AM

Hey, any body up for an all day ride on Sunday?

Thinking about heading North... way North.

Not quite sure of route... see link below for basic direction.

Its about 250 miles from NoVa/DC area.

Thinking I will depart about 6am... yes, thats 0600 hours!
Get up there close to 10am, ride around the park, take pictures, bla bla bla
Head home about 1pm... getting back about 5pm.

My dad checked this gorge out in the spring and said it was pretty awesome, I have been trying toget up there all summer. This weekend shouldbe a good time to go... not too hot and the scenary should be nice.

Pine Creek Gorge, commonly referred to as the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania is surrounded by approximately 165,000 acres of the Tioga State Forest. The Canyon begins south of Ansonia along US Route 6 and continues for approximately 47 miles. The maximum depth of the canyon is 1,450 feet at Waterville, near the southern end. At Leonard Harrison and Colton Point State Parks, the depth is more than 800 feet. These overlooks offer the most spectacular views. Pine Creek Gorge received national acclaim in 1968 when the National Park Service designated a 12-mile section as a National Natural Landmark. http://www.visittiogapa.com/

I'm going to try a short ride to see if I can ride again. If it works , I would be up for that ride. Let you know.

Chris, that would be awesome!
I hope feel better and can ride. I don't mind doing it alone, but
it would be fun with some company... especially some company with
saddle bags and a back seat to load up. hehe!
JK... I'll have my RRRack to load up with layers of clothing and other junk.
Keep me posted.

I rode there this summer. I found it a little disappointing after seeing all the pics online. I had a great time getting there, rode about 75 miles of country dirt roads. If you choose the right route up you will have a blast. Stay off 81 near Pine Grove!

He's all good now. He was doing about 45mph when he hit it. He took a good hit to the head and was knocked out and bruised hit shoulder other than that not a scratch. The bike flipped and tumbled
