Question Two day overnight trip... suggestions/comments? - May 23, 2006, 11:16 AM

ok guys... so I'm planning a little overnight with the chica.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'd be leaving on a Saturday after work at about 5 and returning Sunday night.
Basically looking to ride somewhere Sat night, stay overnight and spend Sunday riding around and heading home.
There doesn't have to be a lot of attractions or anything, just nice roads and good scenery... maybe a state park, something near a lake or river, etc.
I'm thinking I only want to spend about 1.5 hrs getting there, and obviously taking a much longer scenic way home.

head up to Deep Creek Lake State Park in Western Maryland. it takes about 2-2.5 hours but well worth it. also being memorial day weekend its kind of like the opening weekend for everything on the lake and state park so there is lots to do.

head down to SW VA. The roads rock. RT 16, 311, 6, 70, 622, etc.

There is a really cool park down near Harrisonburg. Cool roads and a swimming lake.

Also, look up motorcycle camping. There's a place in VA (I think) that is a campground only for bikers. They have little cabins. http://www.willvillebikecamp.com/

Or head west into West Virginia and find a little bed and breakfast when you're tired.

I went to Gettysburg past weekend on a motorcycle trip. The back roads are nice and open around there.

The Blueridge Parkway is an awesome trip. Hubby and i did it last fall and are doing it again this weekend. Plenty of places to stay along the way and the riding is curvy and fun. Of course you don't have to do the whole thing!!!
