Why there isn't any Intermediate Group Ride ?!! - August 5, 2009, 02:10 PM

Most of the group rides in .net are either noob or advacned, what about some intermdiate group rides?

I think there are more people here who are at the intermeidate level than at the advace or newb level.

Feel free to share your defination of Intermediate - I think it's someone who is very comfortable riding in the street, understands traffic, knows how to watch out for the police (where to speed and where not to speed), where they can hide without being seen - someone who has intuition and knows how to scan the surrounding; and also takes a couple of long road trips a year which lasts several days.

It would be nice to see some intermediate group rides ?!!

I love how the majority of your definition of an intermediate rider involves ducking the police

noob ride = slow enough so police don't bother
intermediate = avoid police encounter
advanced = highway leapfrog with police?

All my rides are intermediate rides. And honestly, all the 'advanced' rides people post are almost always intermediate pace as well. They just want everyone to be geared up and keep the groups smaller.

This is exactly right. If anyone ever finds an advanced ride, let me know how those European Alps were.

Post it and they will come!

Another nod to what Witold stated. Besides, "fast" is by definition a personal definition. Fast to me means I am pressing the limits of my ability, something that I tend to avoid these days.

I had one scheduled for Sunday, but due to unfortunate events, I had to cancel. I will be rescheduling for a later date... TBD.

To expand on what I'm sayin...

Ask a group of 10 people that are not extremely closely matched as far as bikes and experiance what a given "intermediate" rides pace was and you're likely to get reponses ranging from "Mellow" to "Holy Shyt!".

Perception is everything. LOL
