Anyone else like Nascar? - June 22, 2008, 06:00 PM

Im from the South and i love me some Nascar. I have a 50' dlp hdtv and an awesome crib im looking for some people to watch nascar with and have some drinks and pizza on Sundays. None of my friends watch sports at all. I also love the Skins too. So if anyone is interested in Chilling with some cold ones and watching sports give me a shout.

GO 88!! Kick some ass like at Michigan

I like going to the races more than watching on TV...Can't wait for the IRL/Nascar night races at Richmond.

ALL MY HEROES ARE RUSSIAN...GO CAPS!

Well you see, Norm, itís like thisÖA herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.-Cliff Claven

I thought I was the only NASCAR fan on the board...well, maybe the only one who openly admits it. I watch every race, and actually go to a few each year. Where do you live?

Go #29!

no

okay, let me qualify, I have a family member who races ARCA, and I've been in the pits and seen them and NASCAR up close...he claims its difficult, and I believe him, but regardless of the skill necessary, its boring as shit to watch, with the exception of the road coarses.

I grew up idolizing Richard Petty and pretty much wanted to be a NASCAR driver from the moment I was born. Gotta love the red, white and blue number 43 car. I was psyched to meet him at the DC Auto Show a year ago.

It was my way of breaking stereotypes--seeing as how I'm an Asian guy who grew up in Texas (not your prototypical NASCAR fan).

Rooted for Million Dollar Bill Elliott in the 80's. Mark Martin in the 90's and Jeff Gordon now. I liked Gordon from the start and only rooted harder when so many people started to hate him (before Kyle Busch took that mantle).

I've caught some races live, including the time trials of the inaugural Brickyard 400.

The problem about going now is that there's lots of anti-Asian hate among NASCAR fans now that the Japanese are competing. Some folks think that I'm a bandwagon Toyota fan. Not true. I'm a Ford man. But I have no problem with Toyota competing.

One member here who likes to give me grief about my Nascar addiction says Nascar is the equivalent of putting Skittles in the toilet and flushing.

I don't care, Sidearm...I'm still watchin'
