group ride and Shakespeare.... - June 6, 2008, 02:25 PM

I know this is going to come off kind of odd, but would there be any general interest in a group ride one weekend to Staunton, VA, followed by a matinee show at the Blackfriars theater (http://www.americanshakespearecenter.com). I have season passes to this theater troupe and I can honestly say they never disappoint. If anyone has questions about the theater, etc, please PM me. If we have a lot of people interested in going we can probably get a group rate on tickets.

That theater is awesome. My wife and I caught "A Christmas Carol" there one year. Not a bad seat in the place and great acoustics.

Unfortunately, now that we have a 14 month old, we aren't "theater friendly" as a family (and going to a play without my wife and kid is probably grounds for death).

But to anyone on the fence about something like this, I highly recommend going.

I would like doing something like this. Let me know what weekend you're looking at.

Do they serve nachos and winecoolers? If so, we're in!

I've added a poll with the 3 plays running in rep this Summer. If people express a preference for 1 or more of them, we can plan a weekend accordingly.

Went to see their Taming of the Shrew yesterday and talked to the box office people. If we have 15 or more we can get a group discount on the tickets of 20%.

I would be totally in for this, as long as it doesn't conflict with a CCS/WERA weekend at Summit or Guzzfest...and I may be out of town the first week of august....
