Is this a set up? This seems like a fake post

The freeway is the easiest place for noobs. Be super ready and alert if you end up in the city.

I'm just picturing a newb all excited for one of his first group rides and then getting on 95 and watching beltway ballers disappear into the traffic ahead.
Disregard!

I certainly don't want to be the noob that gets left behind on 95. I'd be pretty pissed.

The freeway is traffic flowing in one direction, usually pretty straight. All you have to do is not get side swiped. Don't ride in blind spots, ride defensive. Once in sixth, really don't have to do anything unless there's traffic or something.

Now, take that same noob to blaze through D.C. ANY given time, he gotta look out for buses, cabs, cyclists, pedestrians, stop sign, intersections, roundabouts, crack heads, LEOs responding to calls, fire trucks, ambulances, pedicabs, drivers getting outta parking spots, constant turning, downshifting, upshifting, braking (sometimes with zero warning) dodging, have to be comfortable with bike and able to handle well.

You got a throttle, twist that shit!

All kidding aside, the best thing you can do as a noob is to not do stupid shit. In fact, that should go for all riders. Don't ball, lane split at 120mph etc. But the more comfortable you become with your bike, the harder that becomes

The best gear any motorcyclist can get is common sense (damn, I should copyright that shit )
