20070630 Saturday ride report... with photos... - July 1, 2007, 06:20 PM

Thanks to everyone who came out. When I showed up to Sheetz at 8:40 it didn't look like anyone was going to show. But by 9am, we had a group of seven all ready to roll out.

The ride was all back roads, a good amount of twisties, and a little bit of gravel mixed in. Someone else can comment on mileage. Even though we were in the boonies, we saw more cops than I have ever seen *combined* in that area. I don't know why.

The rest of the pics is here: http://witold.org/photos/motorcycle/...1_250_33_loop/

I messed up some camera setting so they didn't come out too great, but not too bad.

It was an awesome ride. It ended up being about 11 hours doorstep to doorstep for myself, definitley worth it though. Cant wait for some more like this.

That second picture is great! It reminds me a little of the switchbacks I rode in the Rocky Mountains several years back. You said it was an 11 hour ride. How long was the "transportation" stretch--to reach those roads?

Please let me know if/when you plan another ride there! After all the city riding here in DC, I am sooo ready for a real ride.

Oh, and by the way, nice pix!!

It's not as far as you think. If I want to roll, I can make it down to the road in the 2nd pic in 2 hours, from Haymarket, VA.

There are some cars on the roads obviously, but very few. It's not like MD where you always get stuck, even if you pass on double yellow.
