4 Days....Rain....Pics - May 19, 2008, 04:48 PM

Thursday morning, skies look good and so does the BRP. Roll out and pick up 2 more riders for the trip down.

The ladies wanted to ride the parkway and the weather appeared to be holding out up there. Afton Mtn. was where we started. Traffic was light and Park Police were nonexistent.

Super Enduro

Not fast enough on the button

Fazer looking good

The ZREX

We rode the BRP down to near Boone where we bailed because the rain came. The last 90 miles sucked the last 40 miles sucked moose balls on tight roads.
450 of the 540 mile first day were worth it. Setting up camp in the dark sucks no matter. Good thing for cold beer.

Friday was more of the same, rain off and on. Better to relax than ride. The girls headed off to Spa. Jknowledge(KTM) headed out a dirt ride with 26 others...yes 26. Can you say disaster. Afternoon I could not take it anymore and went for a ride. 4 of us went up to an old look out tower off TN107.

The road getting up was mostly hard pack gravel with some mud and lots big rocks. The suspension on the Sprint wasn't up to that. Back down we went and they headed off another trail. The roads were drying, I stayed on the pavement.

RT 209 ...Lots of this

to be continued

Friday night was pretty laid back. We had a few kegs and some burgers. We fueled up Saturday morning and hit the road toward TN. I wanted to ride 421 and 32, but Kim wanted to ride Deal's Gap on her own. I screwed up and missed a turn and ended up in Pigeon Forged. I never want to go there on 2 wheels again. We finally made it to Foothills Pkwy.

The ride across was clam and relaxed. At the end we turned left on US129.

Not a blistering pace, but fun just the same.

After her solo run I cranked up the preload on the Sprint for a 2up over and back run. After The Dragon, Kim want to ride the Skyway. The weather was perfect up there, sunny and cool. I motioned for her to pull up right behind me and she held a steady 45 to 50 MPH throught the corners up to the top. Until she saw another bike in the gaurdrail.

It was getting late, we headed back down to Robinsville and back to Hotsprings. We stopped at the end of 209 for a drink, a rest, and to fuel up for the ride home. We felt much like this

Knowing we had 24 miles of this

to get back to camp.

A Multistrada at camp

BBQ and Beer

Ready to ride home

The ride home sucked.....slab and rain.

Always love seeing where you have been to next and the photos that follow. Looks like you had some good times and some not good times. But all and all, I know how you love to be out on the bike and travel. Thanks for the write up and the photos. See you soon.

I don't have actual routes for most of it. I store in waypoint or look for twisty roads and hit go to.

Yeah I remember the ride with you two guys (Space and GhostRydr) a while back had great time.

Good write up Space, you get out there and make it happen on the bike. Looks like you had the bike loaded down there pretty good.

Great Pics.
